Hi! I live in Fremont and my wedding will be in East Orange County. I think that if you can afford a wedding planner, it is probably the best way to go. My fiance and I wanted to save $$$ so we didn't hire a wedding planner..but in the end, the $$ we spent on flying and renting cars, total up to about the same if not more than we would have spent on a planner, not to mention those vacation days we've used up. A planner can help you narrow down your vendors, help you make decisions and you'll have someone to coordinate the wedding the day of (we have to ask a friend to help us coordinate on that day). The other way to go is to use the venue's preferred vendors, which we didn't do because we thought the preferred vendor would be more expensive. Don't know if we even saved anything and with all that extra effort, if I were to start from the beginning again, I would go with a planner.
