Sorry to read your post :-) I'm also planning an out of town wedding. I live in FL, and planning the wedding and 1st reception in So Cal in August and then 2nd reception in VA in December. I had 3 key trips to CA each about 3-5 days overlapping the weekend so it didn't cut too much into my work vacation hours, 1st: select venue, 2nd: select vendors, 3rd: select details. Pack you visits as best as you can. On the vendor visit, we had about 8 - 10 vendor meetings from the time we set foot off the airplane all the way to the night. Getting that over with in the beginning of the trip gives you the chance to set something up in case you didnt like what you saw yet.. or to take a day or so to decide and come back and talk to them again. That way you can relax a little more the rest of the trip. But wow, planning the party in HK, that will be a feat :-) Do you have family there that can help or be a point person? :-) My venue in So CAl (The Amada Plaza) has a wedding coordinator that comes with the package so I can just select and tell them what I want and it's taken care of.
