I think like a lot of Chinese traditions, people here tend not to follow them as strictly. I think most important is to check with your families. My parents, for example, don't really care for following traditions and don't really believe in superstitions, but my fiance's family follows the rules very closely. If your bridesmaids are single and you don't have a problem with it, I would double check with your families, and if they're okay with it, go right ahead! :)
