Having been to dozens of weddings I have never seen a cash bar. I would think this would be particularly gauche at a Chinese wedding, where the typical method of operation is to be flashy, rather than spartan. (In the old days the poorest Chinatown families would nevertheless put on the grandest wedding banquet, even if it meant going in debt for several years.) A cash bar would result in a wedding that people will be talking about for years to come--and not in a positive manner. The stuff on the tables is perfectly fine.
